National Walking month is drawing near and we are excited. As busy Hounslow chiropractors we are big fans of walking. It is a simple and extremely effective form of exercise that is easy to do and has plenty of benefits.
Walking is good for you
In many ways walking is better than running. You can get a lot of the benefits of running, such as improved cardiovascular performance, a good heart and a healthy body but at the same time it has less damage on your joints. Not only that but it is an excellent fat burner and will likely to speed up your metabolism because of its slower paced nature.
Then there is the mental health side of things, a good walk with a good view and a light breeze can clear your mind, it can help you relax and it can really help you be happy.
Walking is an easy change to make
The good news as well is that walking is an easy change to make to your life. This is why as leading Hounslow Chiropractors we are such big fans. It is often our job to highlight subtle lifestyle changes patients need to make to improve their condition. Walking is an easy change. It is a realistic life change to expect people to make.
You can do this in all manner of ways; you can park at the back of the car park and get a few extra steps in on the way to the shops. Even better you can walk to the shops.
You can walk to work or if you live too far away, you can take a walk at lunchtime. You can take the stairs instead of the lift or you can walk your dog.
As already stated there are all manner of ways to get more walking in your life and it really is an easy and little change to your life.
If you want more advice on why we advocate more walking as a healthy lifestyle change or if you have back pain, please get in touch and we’d be happy to help.
