This week is Walk To School Week. Every May, Living Streets, organise a fun, themed campaign to encourage parents and children to walk to school. In 2017, 400,000 children and their families took part in the challenge.
If you are taking part in this year’s challenge then congratulations. If you’ve missed out, then why not organise your own mini challenge – it’s never too late to start!
An increasing number of children and young people are suffering back pain and as chiropractors in a busy family chiropractic clinic in Hounslow this is a concern for us. A contributory factor to this increase is a sedentary lifestyle and unfortunately this impacts children as much as adults. Any campaign that encourages even the simplest form of exercise such as walking is a good thing.
The Living Streets campaign focuses on the many benefits of walking to school and these include:
- Healthier bodies and happier minds
- Fewer cars at school gates
- Less air pollution
- Time to chat with family and friends
Start experiencing these benefits and put your best forward and walk to school.
